Delicious! I live in SF but was out running errands in the area and was happy to see there's a Peruvian restaurant in Lafayette. The restaurant is large with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating, has friendly service and menu that makes me want to return with the family. Had the lomo saltado, so much flavor and the chips/salsa that came as a starter.... I would like to purchase a jar of it. I then found out Barranco is from the same owner as Mochica which explains why I like it so much. Highly recommended.

The Pulpo a La Padilla was the best octopus I've ever tasted, in the world. Glorious ceviche, amazing sweet potato fried and service. New second favorite restaurant!

I have very, awkwardly, sometimes offensive, judgemental elders. I always dread taking them to my favorite restaurants because of the above. That being said, they LOVE Barranco for all of the right reasons. Five stars for food, drinks, service, and ambience. We always show up early so we can have a quick cocktail and appetizer (my favorite is the pisco sour) and Palta Rellena (avocado with chicken salad, and plantains. My go-to for dinner is the lomo saltado with chicken, but I recently tried the Mac and cheese which is perfect. Hubs gets the steak with prawns, and the elders usually go for salmon (well done). But my favorite moment so far was when we went for my aunts 82nd birthday. We didn't tell them it was her birthday, they overheard my husband wishing her a HBD....and showed up with cookies - I cannot remember the name of them but it's another favorite. We try to come up with things to celebrate so we can indulge, but we do not need an occasion, it's a quick trip to Lafayette (great parking and great location).

We went here for a birthday celebration and there is a lot of space for big groups. We had 8 people in our party and there was plenty of room for everyone. Service was attentive and the drinks were good. I had the sangria, which arrived in a very full glass loaded with juicy bits of fruits. My husband was very happy with his old fashioned. The pisco sour and pisco punch didn't seem too different from each other according to our family members who ordered them but I didn't try either of them. The empanada platter had four different types; beef, chicken, corn, and spinach & mushroom. They were delicious - savory with a hint of sweetness from the light dusting of powdered sugar, I think. It was served with a sauce but I thought they were fine on their own. The squid ink paella was rich with tender calamari rings, clams, shrimp, chunks of fish and slices of olives. It could have used a bit more acidity like a squeeze of lemon but it that's a minor complaint. The tuna tartare served with house made chips was also good and it had hominy mixed in with the avocado and ahi. It was topped with cucumber slices and a quarter of a hard boiled egg which surprisingly gave it some interesting texture. I liked it but it could do witha bit of added heat from peppers. I would come back here again and maybe next time I'll bring my ghost pepper sea salt to spice some entrees to my liking.
